About Andrzej Sikora

Born in Zielona Gora, Poland, Andrezej Sikora studied at the 200 year old Academy of Fine Art in Wroclaw, earning the Master of Fine Arts degree (with honors) in fine art painting and architectural painting, in 1982. After working at the Academy for eight years as Assistant Professor in painting and drawing, he was appointed Adjunct Professor in 1989. He has participated in many group and individual exhibits in Poland, Europe, and the United States.

His favorite medium is the mural, and after moving to the U.S. in 1990, the artist was able to give full expression to his interest. Catching the attention of the Detroit area art director for Art Van, he was hired to work at a newly built Elslander’s mansion in Grosse Pointe Shores. The two year long project included several murals, special frescos on wet plaster, decorative painting, and portraits of the family. Doors opened quickly to new projects in more public places, including a close relationship with the well-known Andiamo restaurant and banquet centers in the area.
Andrzej’s gracefully harmonized brush strokes also adorn walls of the Opera House, as well as private residences in Michigan and other states. He has participated in many show house exhibitions, worked with many well-known interior designers and interior design studios, and various corporations.

Though active in a wide range of artistic media, Andrzej is especially proficient in fine art painting and graphics, and architectural painting. His art embodies a collective lyric of universal feelings and experiences, skillfully focused through the lens of intense personal experience. “Each medium,” says Andrzej, “contributes a unique message and unique properties to its subject, in form, color, light and feeling.”

The artist lives in Troy and works in Detroit for his company Decora Interior Art Design, Inc.
